A Tale of Darkness

The title of the adaptation “a tale of darkness” is because I want the reader to feel my characters’ sadness and pain as they go through the story. Going the horror genre way was because of the most important aspect of the poem- the raven. Traditionally, a raven is a bird of bad omen, and it translated the poem into a dark and dreary story for me. The poem consists of an intense conflict between hope and giving up, it contains a lot of sorrow which is why the graphic novel will show a lot of conflict, light and dark and eventual grief. Given that i am adapting the style of Junji Ito, the readers i am aiming at are ones that are not afraid of the grotesque and of the darkness and misery that comes with the macabre.
